Virgin Media Transitions Email Services to an Alternative Platform

LONDON — 9th September 2026 — Virgin Media, the United Kingdom’s second-largest broadband provider, today announced it will wind down its proprietary email service and partner with an overseas third party service to deliver continued email access to its customer base.

The arrangement will allow customers to retain their existing Virgin Media-linked email addresses through a managed migration process.

Under the terms of the transition:

  • Current users will receive 45 days’ formal notice to select their preferred course of action
  • Those opting to migrate will receive complimentary service for the short time, after which standard subscription pricing will apply
  • Users may also choose to export their data and move to an alternative provider
  • The service sunset applies to all domains: @ntlworld.com, @blueyonder.co.uk, @virgin.net, and @virginmedia.com

“This decision allows Virgin Media to focus their resources on their core broadband and connectivity services while ensuring our customers have a robust, professional email solution moving forward,” a Virgin Media spokesperson stated.

Direct communications with all affected customers will commence immediately, detailing the migration portal, data-saving procedures, and timeline for transition.
